Why am I seeing a "Could Not Add Card" error when adding my card to Apple Pay?

Written by Pulse.hl | Hyperbeat

The "Could Not Add Card" error in Apple Pay can have a couple of different causes. The message looks the same in each case, but the underlying reason is different. Here are the two most common ones.

The wallet activation limit has been reached

For security, a card can only be added to a limited number of digital wallets within a short period:

  • Up to 10 activations every 90 days

  • Up to 5 activations every 24 hours

Each time the card is added to a new device or wallet, it counts toward this limit. Removing and re-adding it on the same device also counts.

Wait until the limit resets, then try again. If the card is saved on devices you no longer use, removing it from those wallets first can help free up activations.

Your country isn't supported by Apple Pay

Apple Pay is only available in certain countries and regions. If the country of residence on your Hyperbeat profile isn't on Apple's list of supported countries, provisioning will fail with the "Could Not Add Card" error.
