Where to find it
Go to the Cards page in the Hyperbeat app.
Find the card you want to manage.
Select Manage below the card.
The Manage card menu gives you five options:
Change card name
View card PIN
Change card PIN
Change spending limit
Terminate card
Choose one and select Continue.
View or change your card PIN
Your card PIN is the 4-digit code you use at ATMs and at card machines that ask for a PIN.
To see your current PIN: select View card PIN from the Manage card menu, then Continue.
To set a new one:
Select Change card PIN, then Continue.
Enter a new 4-digit PIN.
Select the eye icon next to Show PIN if you want to check what you typed before confirming.
Select Confirm PIN.
The new PIN takes effect straight away. If you forget it, you can come back and use View current PIN rather than resetting it.
PIN options apply to physical cards. Virtual cards are not used at ATMs or PIN terminals, so they do not have a PIN.
Set a spending limit
A spending limit caps how much can be spent on that one card. Every card has its own limit, so you can keep a high limit on your main card and a tight one on a card you use for subscriptions, a shared card, or an agent card.
Select Change spending limit from the Manage card menu, then Continue.
Choose a limit type.
Enter an amount, or pick one of the presets ($1k, $5k, $10k, $50k, $100k) or Custom.
If you chose a period-based limit, choose a limit period.
Select Save spending limit.
The dialog shows your current limit at the top, for example "Current limit: $100,000 monthly", so you always know what you are changing from.
Limit types
Type | What it does |
Per transaction | Caps each individual purchase. There is no cap on how many purchases you make. |
Period-based | Caps the total spent on the card over a period of time. |
Limit periods
Period-based limits can be set to:
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
Yearly
Lifetime
Daily through yearly limits reset once the period is up and your spend starts counting from zero again. A Lifetime limit does not reset. Once the card has spent that total, it stops spending until you raise the limit.
What happens when a limit is hit
A transaction that would take the card past its limit is declined at the point of sale. Nothing is charged and no fee applies.
If that happens, you can:
Raise the limit on that card and try again, or
Use a different card with room left on its limit
Splitting a purchase into smaller transactions to get around a per-transaction limit is not recommended. It defeats the point of the limit you set and repeated declines can trigger fraud checks on your card.
How card limits relate to your account limit
Card limits sit inside your account level limits, they do not replace them.
Every card starts at the default limit of $100,000 per month, which is also the maximum. You can set a card lower, but not higher.
In Cash mode you can still only spend what is in your available USD balance. In Credit mode you are still bound by your Spending Cap. See What is my spending limit? for how those work.
A card limit can only ever bring you below those limits, never above them.
So if a card limit is $10,000 monthly but your available balance is $400, the card can spend $400.
FAQs
Does every card get its own limit? Yes. Limits are set per card, so each card can have a different type, amount and period.
Can I have both a per-transaction and a period-based limit on the same card? No. Each card uses one limit type at a time. Switching from one to the other replaces the previous setting.
Will changing a limit affect transactions that have already gone through? No. A new limit applies from the moment you save it. Purchases that already settled are not reversed.
What counts towards a period-based limit? Settled card spending on that card. Refunds credited back to the card free up room again.
Can I remove a limit entirely? No. Every card keeps a limit, and $100,000 monthly is both the default and the maximum. You can set it lower, but not higher.
Can I raise a card above $100,000 a month? No. $100,000 monthly is the ceiling on every card.
Do I need a PIN to use my card? Not for contactless taps, online purchases, or Apple Pay and Google Wallet, which use your phone's own authentication. You need your PIN for ATM withdrawals and for terminals that request one, usually for larger in-person amounts.
Is my PIN shown to anyone else? No. View card PIN only reveals it to you inside your own logged in session. Never share it, and Hyperbeat support will never ask you for it.
I froze my card, are my limits still there? Yes. Freezing stops all spending temporarily. Your PIN and limit settings are unchanged when you unfreeze. See how to freeze a card.
