Can Hyperbeat steal, freeze, or lock my funds?

You have full custody of your assets. Here's why Hyperbeat can never move, lock, or take them - and how you'd withdraw even if Hyperbeat disappeared.

No. Hyperbeat cannot steal, freeze, or lock your funds, and you can always withdraw them.

Your money in Hyperbeat Pay belongs to you, not to Hyperbeat. Think of it like a safe that only you have the key to. We can show you what's inside, but we can't open it, move anything, or lock you out.

Why your money is always yours

When you sign up, a wallet is created that only you control. Here's what that means in practice:

  • You hold the key. Only you can move or spend your money.

  • Hyperbeat can only look, never touch. We can show your balance and your activity, but we cannot move, lock, freeze, or change your wallet in any way.

  • The money stays in your own wallet. It's never pooled into a Hyperbeat account or held by us.

Your keys, your money, your control.

What happens if Hyperbeat ever goes away

You do not need Hyperbeat to get to your money. Even if the app stopped working tomorrow, you would still have two ways to reach your funds:

  1. Email recovery. Get back into your wallet using the email you signed up with.

  2. Export your wallet. Get your recovery phrase or private key and load it into any popular wallet app, like MetaMask or Rabby. From there, your money is fully in your hands.

Neither of these needs any help from Hyperbeat.

How to recover your account if Hyperbeat disappears

Your money never depends on Hyperbeat being online. If the Hyperbeat app or website ever stops working, you can still reach your funds. There are two situations to think about.

Situation: Hyperbeat is gone for good

If Hyperbeat were to shut down permanently, you can move your money out yourself using Turnkey, the technology that secures your wallet. You do this by exporting your wallet and importing it into another wallet app like MetaMask or Rabby. Once you do that, your money is fully in your hands and Hyperbeat is no longer part of the picture.

Here is how the process works.

Step 1: Get back into your wallet with your email

Turnkey confirms it's really you by sending a one-time code to the email you signed up with. See Turnkey's guide here: Email recovery.

  1. Start the recovery using Turnkey's tools.

  2. Enter your registered email address.

  3. Check your inbox for a one-time code from Turnkey.

  4. Enter that code to prove the email is yours.

This is the same idea as when a website emails you a login code.

Step 2: Export your wallet

Once your email is confirmed, you can export your wallet's recovery phrase or private key. This is the secret that unlocks your wallet. Full steps are in Turnkey's guide: Export wallets.

  1. Choose the export option in Turnkey's tools.

  2. Turnkey securely reveals your recovery phrase or private key to you, and only to you. It is never shown to Hyperbeat. Learn how this stays private: How export keeps your keys safe.

  3. Write it down and keep it somewhere private and safe.

Step 3: Import your wallet into MetaMask or Rabby

  1. Install a wallet app like Ledger.

  2. Choose the "Import wallet" option.

  3. Enter the recovery phrase or private key from Step 2.

That's it. Your money now shows up in that wallet, and you control it directly.

Can Hyperbeat freeze or lock my account?
No. We do not have the ability to freeze, lock, or restrict your wallet. Only you can control it.

Can Hyperbeat take my money?
No. We can only view your balance and activity. We cannot move or spend your funds. There is no button on our side that lets anyone at Hyperbeat touch your money.

If Hyperbeat shuts down, do I lose my money?
No. Your money lives in your own wallet, not with Hyperbeat. If the app ever goes away, you can still recover and withdraw everything using your email or by exporting your wallet into another app.

What does "you own your keys" actually mean?
A key is what unlocks a crypto wallet. Because you hold the key and we don't, you are the only one who can approve moving your money. It's the difference between owning the only key to your house versus renting from someone who keeps a spare.

Does Hyperbeat hold my money like a bank does?
No. A traditional bank holds your money for you and can freeze your account. Hyperbeat is different. Your money stays in a wallet that only you control, and we simply provide the app you use to see and manage it.

How do I get my money out?
You can withdraw at any time from within the app. And even if the app were unavailable, you could recover your wallet and move your funds using another wallet app like MetaMask or Rabby.

What is a recovery phrase or private key?
It's a secret set of words (or a code) that gives full access to your wallet. Whoever has it controls the wallet, so keep it private and never share it with anyone, including people claiming to be Hyperbeat support. We will never ask for it.

Can I move my money to a different wallet app?
Yes. You can export your wallet and import it into popular apps like Ledger.

Do I need Hyperbeat's permission to withdraw or recover my funds?
No. You never need our approval or involvement. The recovery and withdrawal options belong entirely to you.

How do I know this is really true and not just a claim?
Two ways. First, our system is built on Turnkey, and you can read how their recovery works here. Second, our code has been independently audited, and you can read those audits here.

What if I lose access to my email?
Your email is one way back into your wallet, so it's important to keep access to it. As an extra safety net, you can also export your recovery phrase or private key and store it somewhere safe. That gives you a second, independent way to reach your money.

Is my money safer here than on a normal exchange?
On many exchanges, the company holds your money and can freeze your account. With Hyperbeat, you hold your own money and no one can lock you out. The tradeoff is that keeping your recovery phrase safe is your responsibility.
